Are snacks harmful?

Sometimes a snack is what you need to keep you going, but try to keep your total diet in mind, and give some thought to the number of calories and amount of fat you are eating.
Snack foods, such as crisps, chips and nuts, all contain high amounts of fat and are high in calories. Eat them only occasionally. If you want a snack, choose fruit, wholemeal biscuits or perhaps some fresh vegetables dipped in a low-fat sauce.
The number of calories in food can vary enormously. Both 95 tomatoes and two !/4 pound cheeseburgers supply 1000 calories.
