One of the most versatile and popular foods for all people and especially children is the banana! Originally from Malasia , these were brought to India by travellers and merchants and thrived there for some time.Incoperated into many dishes , in a climate that made them easy to grow, they become not so uncommon.These bananas were not the ones we see today, although we eat a variety that was a genetic misfit that happen to be found in a region that was secluded , and had no seed. These bananas , are therefore, grown by grafting from aliving plant , as is the only way of propagation for a seedless variety once removed from the mother tree.Recently
there has been a decline in production of this seedless variety as , being so old , it cannot evolve an immunity to pests and the like, as can the seeded variety.The variety we eat today is thousands of years old and as they are cuttings , or grafts , it is essentially the exact same plant it was all those years ago! Most recently , with the onslaught of stronger pests and plant disease , the seedless banana is totally reliant on the chemicals of humans to stay healthy.A short time ago , reseachers sifted thousands of tons of seedless bananas in the hopes of finding a few seeds, in the hope these would at least to lead to the next genetic strain of seedless banana.

the Great who finally brought the banana to Europe.Banana plantations were still common in the southern China, but never became very popular until the last century.
